Room 401, Monday Morning
"Yeah," Alec said into the phone, his voice even more subdued than his normal quiet tone. "I know, I didn't mean for a week to go by without... yeah. Things were wei-- I know. Sorry, Iz. Love you too."
He hung up the phone and stared at it for a moment before putting it back down on his desk. Then he didn't have anything to stare blankly at anymore, so he just looked at his hands. Hands that had shot Jace the other day in that weird place. Of course he'd had ample reason, and he'd been smart to avoid getting injured again, especially as he'd had a few responsibilities at the time, but... still. It was still the image of Jace's bloody wrist that kept flashing behind his eyes -- that and the helplessly guilty mantra that whatever had happened had been his fault, that Jace would never have gotten cursed if Alec had been looking after him better, that anyone else Jace might have hurt had been because of him.
That, not everything that had happened after, was what was sticking with him right now.
Well. That and -- a remark Jace had made that he was trying to avoid dwelling on. But he was Alec. Dwelling was sort of his thing.
Now that he thought of it, he almost missed the guilt-trippy phone call with Isabelle. That had at least had let him focus on something other than his own mistakes for a while.

So it was a rather casual looking Jace appearing at Alec's doorway. "Good news, my wrist works."

Ahem.
"Oh," Alec said, trying to keep his tone clear of the surprise that Jace was even here and talking to him so soon after... everything. "...Good."
Smooth, Alec.
"So does my... everything." No thanks to Natalie and Clint, god.

Yes, Jace preferred last week to becoming a pony.
"Are you alright?" he asked, showing a rare bit of concern. "Beyond the physical sense, I mean."

So...no different than usual then.

Attempting humor was sort of a new approach for him but it was better than wallowing in emo, so.
"I... on the radio, someone mentioned that people could just... knock the mind-control out of you," he said after a moment. "I probably should've tried that."
Or he'd just stick to the emo. ALEC WAS FULL OF SURPRISES.

Teasing Alec was much better than awkwardness!

Seemed like a good time to add that in there.

But the more important part was the latter half of what Jace had just said, and it wasn't like he particularly wanted to talk about his adventures in that room anyway, so, "Fuzzy how?"

Which was different from the regular asshole he usually was.
"It's just all the details are blending together until they don't make sense."

Ah, a manly compliment. That totally made up for what he had done.

Yes, Alec, but the day you reached Hawkeye levels of mad archery skillz would be a very impressive day indeed.
"And hey, at least we learned that we can still use the church here for weapons," he added, trying for optimism. "No... weird other-dimension thing interfering."
